In the 2014 photo, the trees on both sides of the road have been pruned, which allows more light to enter the site. Apart from the blackberry bushes, there are Stinging Nettles (Urtica dioica) and Dandelions (Taraxacum officinale). These weeds, which need a rich soil, are possibly fertilised when the adjoining field is being manured. Finally, the impact of car and tractor traffic is shown by the absence of any vegetation directly next to the road and the crumbling of the pavement.
